Launch Announcement.

On the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA-80), the Kingdom of Morocco, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), launched the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub  a regional platform designed to accelerate inclusive and ethical digital transformation across Africa and the Arab States.

Investment & Impact

With a total investment of USD 38 million over three years, including USD 8 million from the Moroccan Government, the Hub will support governments in deploying responsible AI and digital solutions across health, education, climate resilience, and governance.

The launch brought together ministers, UN officials, private sector innovators, and civil society leaders, who also discussed the creation of the Arab-African AI & Data Science Alliance, working in close coordination with the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub.

A Wager on the Future

In her keynote address, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, described the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub as “not an end, but a beginning”  a bold wager on the region’s digital future.

Morocco's Digital Ecosystem

Under the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has built a sovereign, inclusive, and forward-looking digital ecosystem anchored in trust, innovation, and sustainability.

Key Achievements:

A Shining Center of Innovation and Trust

Representing the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, Abdallah Al Dardari hailed Morocco’s leadership as “a strategic move for South-South cooperation in the digital era”.

Al Dardari reaffirmed UNDP’s full commitment to supporting the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub as “a dynamic gateway connecting the Arab and African regions with the global UN ecosystem for AI and digitalization”.

Turning Shared Challenges into Shared Solutions

For Dima Al-Khatib, Director of the UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), the launch of the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub represents “a new chapter of actionable multilateralism”.

Al-Khatib stressed that the Hub’s real value lies in “translating strategies into implementation  connecting policies, standards, and procurement to tangible services citizens can use”.

A shared vision for inclusive digital prosperity

Together, the leaders called for a “new multilateralism” rooted in cooperation, trust, and inclusivity. The Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub is envisioned as both a laboratory for responsible AI innovation and a platform for regional cooperation, uniting governments, academia, civil society, and the private sector.

Through the Morocco Digital for Sustainable Development Hub, the Kingdom of Morocco and UNDP reaffirm their joint commitment to ensuring that Africa and the Arab world are not only users of global technologies – but also designers, producers, and exporters of responsible and sustainable digital models.
